It’s hard to believe that we have been here in Desert Hot Springs for over a month already. The time goes by so quickly. As we write this, we are following the breaking news of the man hunt for Christopher Dorner in Big Bear. It is being reported that they have him surrounded in a cabin right now. This is all going down quite close to us. Here is our site and a picture of the mountain view of Big Bear from the back of our site. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families and we hope that this all comes to an end quickly and no one else is hurt.
We have been enjoying the weather, although we have had a few cold spells and some rain as well, but warmer weather is on the way, and soon we will be praying for cooler weather! On a sad note though, one of the baby black swans is gone, not sure what happened, but most are blaming coyotes..the remaining chick is growing very quickly.
We have had some opportunities to check out some other cool things in the area as well thanks to my Aunt and Uncle, Bob and Gretchen who have been coming to this area for years and know all the cool places. They invited us to check out a RV show and flea market in Quartzite, AZ with them. It was amazing. This town in summer is absolutely nothing…flat desert, some roadside businesses and tumbleweeds, but come winter…..there are thousands of RV’s camping in very primitive conditions in the desert land. It is also a mecca or paradise for vendors of all types, mostly gems and rocks. Each winter, there are over a million visitors during the months of January and February. It is so difficult to get the whole thing in pictures but everywhere you looked, there were RV’s parked anywhere and everywhere in the desert.
Here is something you don’t see every day, a bus on top of a bus!
Stopped by an RV dealer to check out some Motorhomes….Gretchen had her favorite…
I had mine!!!
The selection of Motor Homes here is so much better…will have to keep playing the lottery if we ever have a chance to own one of these!
We also checked out the Street Fair at the College of the Desert. There wasn’t anything you couldn’t find here to buy or to eat. You definitely need more than one day to check it all out, but they are set up every weekend so we will probably go back again.
We also took a drive down the Rodeo Drive of Palm Springs..the El Paseo Shopping District.
Other than that not much new. Now that I am passed my injured foot, the flu and kicked the smoking habit (3 weeks now-yeah!!) Steve and I are ready to do some more exploring….hopefully find some more cool things to post.
On that note, I have to give a shout out to my husband who has been so good to me during these last few weeks. I couldn’t have done it without him!!!
Stay warm and safe. Miss you all.
Steve, Patti, Ozzie & Sami!
